(Gen2:21-24) 21And so the Lord God sent a deep sleep upon Adam. And when he was fast asleep, he took one of his ribs, and he completed it with flesh for it. 22And the Lord God built up the rib, which he took from Adam, into a woman. And he led her to Adam. 23And Adam said: “Now this is bone from my bones, and flesh from my flesh. This one shall be called woman, because she was taken from man.” 24For this reason, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife; and the two shall be as one flesh.
(Mt19:3-6) 3And the Pharisees approached him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to separate from his wife, no matter what the cause?” 4And he said to them in response, “Have you not read that he who made man from the beginning, made them male and female?” And he said: 5“For this reason, a man shall separate from father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife, and these two shall become one flesh. 6And so, now they are not two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate.”
(Mk10:11-12) 11And he said to them: “Whoever dismisses his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her. 12And if a wife dismisses her husband, and is married to another, she commits adultery.”
(Mk12:24-25) 24And Jesus responded by saying to them: “But have you not gone astray, by knowing neither the scriptures, nor the power of God? 25For when they will be resurrected from the dead, they shall neither marry, nor be given in marriage, but they are like the Angels in heaven.
(Lk20:34-36) 34And so, Jesus said to them: “The children of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35Yet truly, those who shall be held worthy of that age, and of the resurrection from the dead, will neither be married, nor take wives. 36For they can no longer die. For they are equal to the Angels, and they are children of God, since they are children of the resurrection.
(Lk16:18) 18Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. And whoever marries her who has been divorced by her husband commits adultery.
(1Cor11:27-29) 27And so, whoever eats this bread, or drinks from the cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be liable of the body and blood of the Lord. 28But let a man examine himself, and, in this way, let him eat from that bread, and drink from that cup. 29For whoever eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks a sentence against himself, not discerning it to be the body of the Lord.
(1Cor7:10-11) 10But to those who have been joined in matrimony, it is not I who commands you, but the Lord: a wife is not to separate from her husband. 11But if she has separated from him, she must remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband should not divorce his wife.
(Eph5:22-33) 22Wives should be submissive to their husbands, as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, just as Christ is the head of the Church. He is the Savior of his body. 24Therefore, just as the Church is subject to Christ, so also should wives be subject to their husbands in all things. 25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the Church and handed himself over for her, 26so that he might sanctify her, washing her clean by water and the Word of life, 27so that he might offer her to himself as a glorious Church, not having any spot or wrinkle or any such thing, so that she would be holy and immaculate. 28So, too, husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29For no man has ever hated his own flesh, but instead he nourishes and cherishes it, as Christ also does to the Church. 30For we are a part of his body, of his flesh and of his bones. 31“For this reason, a man shall leave behind his father and mother, and he shall cling to his wife; and the two shall be as one flesh.” 32This is a great Sacrament. And I am speaking in Christ and in the Church. 33Yet truly, each and every one of you should love his wife as himself. And a wife should fear her husband.
(Colossians3:18-21) 18Wives, be submissive to your husbands, as is proper in the Lord. 19Husbands, love your wives, and do not be bitter toward them. 20Children, obey your parents in all things. For this is well-pleasing to the Lord. 21Fathers, do not provoke your children to indignation, lest they lose heart.
(Tit2:4-5) 4so that they may teach prudence to the young women, so that they may love their husbands, love their children, 5be sensible, chaste, restrained, have concern for the household, be kind, be subordinate to their husbands: so that the Word of God may be not blasphemed.
(Heb13:4) 4May marriage be honorable in every way, and may the marriage bed be immaculate. For God will judge fornicators and adulterers.
(1Pet3:7) 7Similarly, you husbands should live with them in accord with knowledge, bestowing honor on the female as the weaker vessel and as co-heirs of the life of grace, so that your prayers may not be hindered.
