1EN: And the fifth angel sounded the trumpet, and I saw a star fall from heaven upon the earth, and there was given to him the key of the bottomless pit.
1FR: Et le cinquième ange sonna de la trompette ; et je vis une étoile qui était tombée du ciel sur la terre, et on lui donna la clef du puits de l’abîme.
2EN: And he opened the bottomless pit: and the smoke of the pit arose, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke of the pit.
2FR: Elle ouvrit le puits de l’abîme, et il s’éleva du puits une fumée comme celle d’une grande fournaise ; et le soleil et l’air furent obscurcie par la fumée du puits.
3EN: And from the smoke of the pit there came out locusts upon the earth. And power was given to them, as the scorpions of the earth have power:
3FR: De cette fumée s’échappèrent sur la terre des sauterelles ; et il leur fût donné un pouvoir semblable à celui que possèdent les scorpions de la terre ;
4EN: And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree: but only the men who have not the sign of God on their foreheads.
4FR: et on leur ordonna de ne point nuire à l’herbe de la terre, ni à aucune verdure, ni à aucun arbre, mais seulement aux hommes qui n’ont pas le sceau de Dieu sur leur front.
5EN: And it was given unto them that they should not kill them; but that they should torment them five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion when he striketh a man.
5FR: Il leur fût donné, non de les tuer, mais de les tourmenter pendant cinq mois ; et le tourment qu’elles causent est semblable à celui d’un homme piqué par le scorpion.
6EN: And in those days men shall seek death, and shall not find it: and they shall desire to die, and death shall fly from them.
6FR: En ces jours-là, les hommes chercheront la mort, et ils ne la trouveront pas ; Ils souhaiteront la mort, et la mort fuira loin d’eux.
7EN: And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle: and on their heads were, as it were, crowns like gold: and their faces were as the faces of men.
7FR: Ces sauterelles ressemblaient à des chevaux préparés pour le combat ; elles avaient sur la tête comme des couronnes d’or ; leurs visages étaient comme des visages d’hommes,
8EN: And they had hair as the hair of women; and their teeth were as lions:
8FR: leurs cheveux comme des cheveux de femmes, et leurs dents comme des dents de lions.
9EN: And they had breastplates as breastplates of iron, and the noise of their wings was as the noise of chariots and many horses running to battle.
9FR: Elles avaient des cuirasses comme des cuirasses de fer, et le bruit de leurs ailes était comme un bruit de chars à plusieurs chevaux qui courent au combat.
10EN: And they had tails like to scorpions, and there were stings in their tails; and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had over them
10FR: Elles ont des queues semblables à des scorpions, et des aiguillons, et c’est dans leurs queues qu’est le pouvoir de faire du mal aux hommes durant cinq mois.
11EN: A king, the angel of the bottomless pit; whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek Apollyon; in Latin Exterminans,
11FR: Elles ont à leur tête, comme roi, l’ange de l’abîme qui se nomme en hébreu Abaddon, en grec Apollyon.
12EN: One woe is past, and behold there come yet two woes more hereafter.
12FR: Le premier " malheur " est passé ; voici qu’il en vient encore deux autres dans la suite.
13EN: And the sixth angel sounded the trumpet: and I heard a voice from the four horns of the great altar, which is before the eyes of God,
13FR: Et le sixième ange sonna de la trompette ; et j’entendis une voix sortir des quatre cormes de l’autel d’or qui est devant Dieu ; elle disait au sixième ange qui avait la trompette :
14EN: Saying to the sixth angel, who had the trumpet: Loose the four angels, who are bound in the great river Euphrates.
14FR: "Délie les quatre anges qui sont liés sur le grand fleuve de l’Euphrate. "
15EN: And the four angels were loosed, who were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year: for to kill the third part of men.
15FR: Alors furent déliés les quatre anges, qui se tenaient prêts pour l’heure, le jour, le mois et l’année, afin de tuer la troisième partie des hommes.
16EN: And the number of the army of horsemen was twenty thousand times ten thousand. And I heard the number of them.
16FR: Et le nombre des troupes de cavalerie avait deux myriades de myriades ; j’en entendis le nombre.
17EN: And thus I saw the horses in the vision: and they that sat on them, had breastplates of fire and of hyacinth and of brimstone, and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions: and from their mouths proceeded fire, and smoke, and brimstone.
17FR: Et voici comment les chevaux me parurent dans la vision, ainsi que ceux qui les montaient : ils avaient des cuirasses couleur de feu, d’hyacinthe et de soufre ; les têtes des chevaux étaient comme des têtes de lions, et leur bouche jetait du feu, de la fumée et du soufre.
18EN: And by these three plagues was slain the third part of men, by the fire and by the smoke and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
18FR: La troisième partie des hommes fût tuée par ces trois fléaux, par le feu, par la fumée et par le soufre qui sortaient de leur bouche.
19EN: For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails. For, their tails are like to serpents, and have heads: and with them they hurt.
19FR: Car le pouvoir de ces chevaux est dans leur bouche et dans leurs queues : car leurs queues, semblables à des serpents, ont des têtes, et c’est avec elles qu’ils blessent.
20EN: And the rest of the men, who were not slain by these plagues, did not do penance from the works of their hands, that they should not adore devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and wood, which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk:
20FR: Les autres hommes, qui ne furent pas tués par ces fléaux, ne se repentirent pas non plus des œuvres de leurs mains, pour ne plus adorer les démons et les idoles d’or, d’argent, d’airain, de pierre et de bois, qui ne peuvent ni voir, ni entendre, ni marcher ;
21EN: Neither did they penance from their murders, nor from their sorceries, nor from their fornication, nor from their thefts.
21FR: et ils ne se repentirent ni de leurs meurtres, ni de leurs enchantements, ni de leur impudicité, ni de leurs vols.
