1EN: Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write: These things saith he, who holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks:
1FR: Ecris à l’ange de l’Église d’Ephèse Voici ce que dit Celui qui tient les sept étoiles dans sa main droite, Celui qui marche au milieu des sept chandeliers d’or
2EN: I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them that are evil, and thou hast tried them, who say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
2FR: Je connais tes œuvres, ton labeur et ta patience ; je sais que tu ne peux supporter les méchants ; que tu as éprouvé ceux qui se disent apôtres et ne le sont pas, et que tu les as trouvés menteurs ;
3EN: And thou hast patience, and hast endured for my name, and hast not fainted.
3FR: que tu as de la patience, que tu as eu à supporter pour mon nom, et que tu ne t’es point lassé.
4EN: But I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first charity.
4FR: Mais j’ai contre toi que tu t’es relâché de ton premier amour.
5EN: Be mindful therefore from whence thou art fallen: and do penance, and do the first works. Or else I come to thee, and will move thy candlestick out of its place, except thou do penance.
5FR: Souviens-toi donc d’où tu es tombé, repens-toi et reviens à tes premières œuvres sinon, je viendrai à toi, et j’ôterai ton chandelier de sa place, à moins que tu ne te repentes.
6EN: But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaites, which I also hate.
6FR: Pourtant tu as en ta faveur que tu hais les œuvres des Nicolaïtes, œuvres que moi aussi je hais.
7EN: He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him, that overcometh, I will give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of my God.
7FR: Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux Églises ! A celui qui vaincra, je lui donnerai à manger de l’arbre de vie, qui est dans le paradis de [mon] Dieu.
8EN: And to the angel of the church of Smyrna write: These things saith the First and the Last, who was dead, and is alive:
8FR: Ecris encore à l’ange de l’Église de Smyrne. Voici ce que dit le Premier et le Dernier, Celui qui était mort et qui a repris vie
9EN: I know thy tribulation and thy poverty, but thou art rich: and thou art blasphemed by them that say they are Jews and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
9FR: Je connais ta tribulation et ta pauvreté, - mais tu es riche, - et les Insultes de ceux qui se disent juifs et ne le sont pas, mais bien une synagogue de Satan. Ne crains rien de ce que tu auras à souffrir.
10EN: Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison that you may be tried: and you shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful until death: and I will give thee the crown of life.
10FR: Voici que le diable va jeter quelques-uns de vous en prison, afin que vous soyez mis à l’épreuve, et vous aurez une tribulation de dix jours. Sois fidèle jusqu’à la mort et je te donnerai la couronne de la vie.
11EN: He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: He that shall overcome, shall not be hurt by the second death.
11FR: Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux Églises ! Celui qui vaincra ne recevra aucun dommage de la seconde mort.
12EN: And to the angel of the church of Pergamus write: These things, saith he, that hath the sharp two edged sword:
12FR: Ecris encore à l’ange de l’Église de Pergame : Voici ce que dit Celui qui a le glaive aigu à deux tranchants
13EN: I know where thou dwellest, where the seat of Satan is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith. Even in those days when Antipas was my faithful witness, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.
13FR: Je sais où tu habites : là où se trouve le trône de Satan ; mais tu es fermement attaché à mon nom, et tu n’as point renié ta foi, même en ces jours où Antipas, mon témoin fidèle, a été mis à mort chez vous, où Satan habite.
14EN: But I have against thee a few things: because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat, and to commit fornication:
14FR: Mais j’ai contre toi quelques griefs ; c’est que tu as là des gens attachés à la doctrine de Balaam, qui conseillait à Balac de mettre devant les fils d’Israël une pierre d’achoppement, pour les amener à manger des viandes immolées aux idoles et à se livrer à l’impudicité.
15EN: So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaites.
15FR: De même toi aussi, tu as des gens attachés pareillement à la doctrine des Nicolaïtes.
16EN: In like manner do penance: if not, I will come to thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
16FR: Repens-toi ! sinon, je viendrai à toi promptement, et je leur ferai la guerre avec le glaive de ma bouche.
17EN: He, that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches: To him that overcometh, I will give the hidden manna, and will give him a white counter, and in the counter, a new name written, which no man knoweth, but he that receiveth it.
17FR: Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que dit l’Esprit aux Églises ! A celui qui vaincra, je donnerai de la manne cachée ; et je lui donnerai une pierre blanche, et sur cette pierre est écrit un nom nouveau, que personne ne connaît, si ce n’est celui qui le reçoit.
18EN: And to the angel of the church of Thyatira write: These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like to a flame of fire, and his feet like to fine brass.
18FR: Écris encore à l’ange de l’Église de Thyatire : Voici ce que dit le Fils de Dieu, Celui qui a les yeux comme une flamme de feu, et dont les pieds sont semblables à l’airain.
19EN: I know thy works, and thy faith, and thy charity, and thy ministry, and thy patience, and thy last works which are more than the former.
19FR: Je connais tes œuvres, ton amour, ta foi, ta bienfaisance, ta patience et ces dernières œuvres plus nombreuses que les premières.
20EN: But I have against thee a few things: because thou sufferest the woman Jezabel, who calleth herself a prophetess, to teach, and to seduce my servants, to commit fornication, and to eat of things sacrificed to idols.
20FR: Mais j’ai contre toi quelques griefs : c’est que tu laisses la femme Jézabel, se disant prophétesse, enseigner et séduire mes serviteurs, pour qu’ils se livrent à l’impudicité et mangent des viandes immolées aux idoles.
21EN: And I gave her a time that she might do penance, and she will not repent of her fornication.
21FR: Je lui ai donné du temps pour faire pénitence, et elle ne veut pas se repentir de son impudicité.
22EN: Behold, I will cast her into a bed: and they that commit adultery with her shall be in very great tribulation, except they do penance from their deeds.
22FR: Voici que je vais la jeter sur un lit, et plonger dans une grande tristesse ses compagnons d’adultère, s’ils ne se repentent des œuvres qu’elle leur à enseignées.
23EN: And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts, and I will give to every one of you according to your works. But to you I say,
23FR: Je frapperai de mort ses enfants, et toutes les Églises connaîtront que je suis celui qui sonde les reins et les cœurs ; et je rendrai à chacun de vous selon vos œuvres
24EN: And to the rest who are at Thyatira: Whosoever have not this doctrine, and who have not known the depths of Satan, as they say, I will not put upon you any other burthen.
24FR: Mais à vous, aux autres fidèles de Thyatire, qui ne reçoivent pas cette doctrine, qui n’ont pas connu les profondeurs de Satan (comme ils les appellent), je vous dis : Je ne vous imposerai pas d’autre fardeau ;
25EN: Yet that, which you have, hold fast till I come.
25FR: seulement, tenez ferme ce que vous avez, jusqu’à ce que je vienne.
26EN: And he that shall overcome, and keep my works unto the end, I will give him power over the nations.
26FR: Et à celui qui vaincra et qui gardera jusqu’à la fin mes œuvres, je lui donnerai pouvoir sur les nations ;
27EN: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron, and as the vessel of a potter they shall be broken,
27FR: il les gouvernera avec un sceptre de fer, ainsi que l’on brise les vases d’argile,
28EN: As I also have received of my Father: and I will give him the morning star.
28FR: comme moi-même j’en ai reçu le pouvoir de mon Père, et je lui donnerai l’étoile du matin.
29EN: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith to the churches.
29FR: Que celui qui a des oreilles entende ce que l’Esprit dit aux Églises !
