1EN: Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy, a brother: to Philemon, our beloved and fellow labourer;
1FR: Paul, prisonnier du Christ Jésus et Timothée, notre frère
2EN: And to Appia, our dearest sister, and to Archippus, our fellow soldier, and to the church which is in thy house:
2FR: à Philémon notre très cher ami et collaborateur, à Appia, notre sœur, à Archippe, notre compagnon d’armes, et à l’Église qui est dans ta maison :
3EN: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3FR: à vous grâce et paix de la part de Dieu notre Père et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ !
4EN: I give thanks to my God, always making a remembrance of thee in my prayers.
4FR: Me souvenant sans cesse de toi dans mes prières je rends grâces à mon Dieu ;
5EN: Hearing of thy charity and faith, which thou hast in the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints:
5FR: car j’apprends quelles sont ta charité et ta foi à l’égard du Seigneur Jésus et envers tous tes saints :
6EN: That the communication of thy faith may be made evident in the acknowledgment of every good work, that is in you in Christ Jesus.
6FR: Puisse la générosité inspirée par ta foi devenir efficace et se faire connaître partout, le bien accompli parmi nous en vue du Christ.
7EN: For I have had great joy and consolation in thy charity, because the bowels of the saints have been refreshed by thee, brother.
7FR: En effet, ta charité m’a comblé de joie et de consolation, parce que les cœurs des saints ont été ranimés par toi, frère.
8EN: Wherefore though I have much confidence in Christ Jesus, to command thee that which is to the purpose:
8FR: Voilà pourquoi, bien que j’ai dans le Christ toute liberté de te prescrire ce qu’il convient de faire,
9EN: For charity sake I rather beseech, whereas thou art such a one, as Paul an old man, and now a prisoner also of Jesus Christ.
9FR: j’aime mieux, au nom de cette charité, t’en supplier. Tel que je suis, moi, Paul, vieux, et de plus actuellement prisonnier pour Jésus-Christ,
10EN: I beseech thee for my son, whom I have begotten in my bands, Onesimus,
10FR: je te supplie donc pour mon fils, que j’ai engendré dans les fers, pour Onésime,
11EN: Who hath been heretofore unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable both to me and thee,
11FR: qui autrefois ne t’a guère été utile, mais qui maintenant l’est vraiment, et à toi et à moi.
12EN: Whom I have sent back to thee. And do thou receive him as my own bowels.
12FR: Je te le renvoie, lui, mon propre cœur.
13EN: Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered to me in the bands of the gospel:
13FR: Je l’aurais volontiers retenu près de moi, afin qu’il me servit à ta place dans les chaînes que je porte pour l’Évangile.
14EN: But without thy counsel I would do nothing: that thy good deed might not be as it were of necessity, but voluntary.
14FR: Mais je n’ai voulu rien faire sans ton assentiment, pour que ton bienfait ne paraisse pas forcé, mais qu’il vienne de ton plein gré.
15EN: For perhaps he therefore departed for a season from thee, that thou mightest receive him again for ever:
15FR: Peut-être aussi Onésime n’a-t-il été séparé de toi pour un temps, qu’afin que tu le recouvres à jamais,
16EN: Not now as a servant, but instead of a servant, a most dear brother, especially to me: but how much more to thee both in the flesh and in the Lord?
16FR: non plus comme un esclave, mais bien mieux qu’un esclave, comme un frère bien-aimé, tout particulièrement aimé de moi, et combien plus de toi, aussi bien selon la chair que selon le Seigneur ?
17EN: If therefore thou count me a partner, receive him as myself.
17FR: Si donc tu me tiens pour étroitement uni à toi, accueille-le comme moi-même.
18EN: And if he hath wronged thee in any thing, or is in thy debt, put that to my account.
18FR: Et s’il t’a fait tort, s’il te doit quelque chose, passe-le à mon compte.
19EN: I Paul have written it with my own hand: I will repay it: not to say to thee, that thou owest me thy own self also.
19FR: C’est moi Paul, qui écris ceci de ma propre main ; moi je te le rendrai, pour ne pas te dire que tu es mon débiteur, et même de ta propre personne.
20EN: Yea, brother. May I enjoy thee in the Lord. Refresh my bowels in the Lord.
20FR: Oui, frère, que j’obtienne de toi cette satisfaction dans le Seigneur ; réjouis mes entrailles dans le Christ.
21EN: Trusting in thy obedience, I have written to thee: knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
21FR: Je t’écris ceci plein de confiance en ta docilité, sachant que tu feras même au delà de ce que je demande.
22EN: But withal prepare me also a lodging. For I hope that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
22FR: En même temps, prépare aussi pour moi l’hospitalité ; car j’espère vous être rendu, grâce à vos prières.
23EN: There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus;
23FR: Epaphras, mon compagnon de captivité en Jésus-Christ, te salue,
24EN: Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow labourers.
24FR: ainsi que Marc, Aristarque, Démas et Luc, mes collaborateurs.
25EN: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
25FR: Que la grâce de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, soit avec votre esprit ! Amen !
