1EN: AND entering into a boat, he passed over the water and came into his own city.
1FR: Et étant monté dans la barque, il refit la traversée et revint dans sa ville.
2EN: And behold they brought to him one sick of the palsy lying in a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the man sick of the palsy: Be of good heart, son, thy sins are forgiven thee.
2FR: Et voilà qu’on lui présentait un paralytique, étendu sur un lit. Jésus, voyant leur foi, dit au paralytique : « Aie confiance, mon fils, tes péchés te sont remis. »
3EN: And behold some of the scribes said within themselves: He blasphemeth.
3FR: Et voici que quelques scribes se dirent en eux-mêmes : « Cet homme blasphème. »
4EN: And Jesus seeing their thoughts, said: Why do you think evil in your hearts?
4FR: Jésus, ayant connaissance de leurs pensées, leur dit : « Pourquoi pensez-vous à mal dans vos cœurs ?
5EN: Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee: or to say, Arise, and walk?
5FR: Lequel est le plus aisé de dire : Tes péchés te sont remis ; ou de dire : Lève-toi et marche ?
6EN: But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then said he to the man sick of palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.
6FR: Mais pour que vous sachiez que le Fils de l’homme a, sur la terre, le pouvoir de remettre les péchés : Lève-toi, dit-il alors au paralytique, prends ton lit, et va dans ta maison. »
7EN: And he arose, and went into his house.
7FR: Et il se dressa et s’en retourna dans sa maison.
8EN: And the multitude seeing it, feared, and glorified God that gave such power to men.
8FR: À cette vue les foules furent saisies de crainte et glorifièrent Dieu d’avoir donné une telle puissance aux hommes.
9EN: And when Jesus passed on from hence, he saw a man sitting in the custom house, named Matthew; and he saith to him: Follow me. And he rose up and followed him.
9FR: Et de là, en passant, Jésus vit un homme, nommé Matthieu, assis au bureau du fisc, et il lui dit : « Suis-moi. » Il se leva et le suivit.
10EN: And it came to pass as he was sitting at meat in the house, behold many publicans and sinners came, and sat down with Jesus and his disciples.
10FR: Or, comme il était à table dans sa maison, un grand nombre de publicains et de pécheurs vinrent y prendre place avec Jésus et ses disciples.
11EN: And the Pharisees seeing it, said to his disciples: Why doth your master eat with publicans and sinners?
11FR: Ce que voyant, les Pharisiens dirent à ses disciples : « Pourquoi votre maître mange-t-il avec les publicains et les pécheurs ? »
12EN: But Jesus hearing it, said: They that are in health need not a physician, but they that are ill.
12FR: Entendant cela, il leur dit : « Ce ne sont pas les bien portants qui ont besoin de médecin, mais les malades.
13EN: Go then and learn what this meaneth, I will have mercy and not sacrifice. For I am not come to call the just, but sinners.
13FR: Allez donc apprendre ce que signifie : Je veux la miséricorde et non le sacrifice. Car je ne suis pas venu appeler les justes, mais les pécheurs. »
14EN: Then came to him the disciples of John, saying: Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but thy disciples do not fast?
14FR: Alors les disciples de Jean vinrent le trouver et lui dirent : « Pourquoi, tandis que nous et les Pharisiens nous observons [souvent] le jeûne, vos disciples ne l’observent-ils pas ? »
15EN: And Jesus said to them: Can the children of the bridegroom mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then they shall fast.
15FR: Jésus leur dit : « Les amis de l’époux peuvent-ils être dans la tristesse tant que l’époux est avec eux ? Mais viendront des jours où l’époux leur sera enlevé, et alors ils observeront le jeûne.
16EN: And nobody putteth a piece of raw cloth unto an old garment. For it taketh away the fullness thereof from the garment, and there is made a greater rent.
16FR: Personne ne met une pièce d’étoffe écrue à un vieux vêtement : car le morceau rapporté emporte quelque chose du vêtement, et la déchirure devient pire.
17EN: Neither do they put new wine into old bottles. Otherwise the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish. But new wine they put into new bottles: and both are preserved.
17FR: On ne met pas non plus du vin nouveau dans des outres vieilles : autrement, les outres éclatent, le vin se répand et les outres sont perdues ; mais on met le vin nouveau dans des outres neuves, et les deux se conservent. »
18EN: And he was speaking these things unto them, behold a certain ruler came up, and adored him, saying: Lord, my daughter is even now dead; but come, lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
18FR: Comme il leur parlait ainsi, voici qu’un chef s’avança, se prosterna devant lui et dit : « Ma fille vient de mourir ; mais venez, imposez votre main sur elle, et elle vivra. »
19EN: And Jesus rising up followed him, with his disciples.
19FR: Jésus se leva et le suivit ainsi que ses disciples.
20EN: And behold a woman who was troubled with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment.
20FR: Et voilà qu’une femme, affligée d’une perte de sang depuis douze ans, s’approcha par derrière et toucha la houppe de son vêtement.
21EN: For she said within herself: If I shall touch only his garment, I shall be healed.
21FR: Car elle se disait en elle-même : « Si seulement je touche son vêtement, je serai guérie. »
22EN: But Jesus turning and seeing her, said: Be of good heart, daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.
22FR: Jésus se retourna, la vit et dit : « Ayez confiance, ma fille, votre foi vous a guérie. » Et la femme fut guérie à l’heure même.
23EN: And when Jesus was come into the house of the ruler, and saw the minstrels and the multitude making a rout,
23FR: Arrivé à la maison du chef, Jésus vit les joueurs de flûte et une foule qui faisait grand bruit, et il leur dit :
24EN: He said: Give place, for the girl is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
24FR: « Retirez-vous : car la jeune fille n’est pas morte, mais elle dort ; » et ils se moquaient de lui.
25EN: And when the multitude was put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand. And the maid arose.
25FR: Lorsqu’on eut fait sortir la foule, il entra, prit la main de la jeune fille, et elle se leva.
26EN: And the fame hereof went abroad into all that country.
26FR: Et le bruit s’en répandit dans tout ce pays.
27EN: And as Jesus passed from thence, there followed him two blind men crying out and saying, Have mercy on us, O Son of David.
27FR: Comme Jésus partait de là, deux aveugles le suivirent, en disant à haute voix : « Fils de David, ayez pitié de nous ! »
28EN: And when he was come to the house, the blind men came to him. And Jesus saith to them, Do you believe, that I can do this unto you? They say to him, Yea, Lord.
28FR: Lorsqu’il fut entré dans la maison, les aveugles s’approchèrent de lui, et Jésus leur dit : « Croyez-vous que je puisse faire cela ? » Ils lui dirent : « Oui, Seigneur. »
29EN: Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith, be it done unto you.
29FR: Alors il toucha leurs yeux en disant : « Qu’il vous soit fait selon votre foi ! »
30EN: And their eyes were opened, and Jesus strictly charged them, saying, See that no man know this.
30FR: Et leurs yeux s’ouvrirent, et Jésus leur commanda avec force : « Prenez garde que personne ne le sache. »
31EN: But they going out, spread his fame abroad in all that country.
31FR: Mais, s’en étant allés, ils publièrent ses louanges dans toute cette contrée.
32EN: And when they were gone out, behold they brought him a dumb man, possessed with a devil.
32FR: Après leur départ, on lui présenta un muet possédé du démon.
33EN: And after the devil was cast out, the dumb man spoke, and the multitudes wondered, saying, Never was the like seen in Israel.
33FR: Le démon chassé, le muet parla, et les foules, saisies d’admiration, dirent : « Jamais rien de semblable ne s’est vu en Israël. »
34EN: But the Pharisees said, By the prince of devils he casteth out devils.
34FR: Mais les Pharisiens disaient : « C’est par le chef des démons qu’il chasse les démons. »
35EN: And Jesus went about all the cities, and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease, and every infirmity.
35FR: Et Jésus parcourait toutes les villes et les bourgades, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, prêchant l’Évangile du royaume, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité
36EN: And seeing the multitudes, he had compassion on them: because they were distressed, and lying like sheep that have no shepherd.
36FR: Et, en voyant cette multitude d’hommes, il fut ému et compassion pour eux, parce qu’ils étaient harassés et abattus, comme des brebis qui n’ont pas de pasteur.
37EN: Then he saith to his disciples, The harvest indeed is great, but the labourers are few.
37FR: Alors il dit à ses disciples : « La moisson est grande, mais les ouvriers sont en petit nombre.
38EN: Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he send forth labourers into his harvest.
38FR: Priez donc le maître de la moisson d’envoyer des ouvriers à sa moisson. »
