1EN: AND it came to pass when Jesus had ended these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea, beyond Jordan.
1FR: Or, quand Jésus eut achevé ces discours, il quitta la Galilée et vint dans le territoire de la Judée, au delà du Jourdain.
2EN: And great multitudes followed him: and he healed them there.
2FR: Des foules nombreuses le suivirent, et là il guérit leurs malades.
3EN: And there came to him the Pharisees tempting him, and saying: Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?
3FR: Des Pharisiens l’abordèrent pour le mettre à l’épreuve, et dirent : « Est-il permis à l’homme de répudier sa femme pour quelque motif que ce soit ? »
4EN: Who answering, said to them: Have ye not read, that he who made man from the beginning, Made them male and female? And he said:
4FR: Il répondit : « N’avez-vous pas lu que celui qui (les créa), au commencement, les fit mâle et femelle,
5EN: For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and they two shall be in one flesh.
5FR: et qu’il dit : À cause de cela, l’homme quittera son père et sa mère, et s’attachera à sa femme, et les deux deviendront une seule chair ?
6EN: Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder.
6FR: Ainsi ils ne sont plus deux, mais une seule chair. Que l’homme ne sépare donc pas ce que Dieu a uni ! »
7EN: They say to him: Why then did Moses command to give a bill of divorce, and to put away?
7FR: Ils lui dirent : « Pourquoi donc Moïse a-t-il prescrit de donner un acte de divorce et de la répudier ? »
8EN: He saith to them: Because Moses by reason of the hardness of your heart permitted you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.
8FR: Il leur dit : « C’est à cause de votre dureté de cœur que Moïse vous a permis de répudier vos femmes : mais, au commencement, il n’en fut pas ainsi.
9EN: And I say to you, that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and he that shall marry her that is put away, committeth adultery.
9FR: Or je vous dis que celui qui répudie sa femme, si ce n’est pour adultère, et en épouse une autre, commet un adultère. »
10EN: His disciples say unto him: If the case of a man with his wife be so, it is not expedient to marry.
10FR: Ses disciples lui dirent : « Si telle est la condition de l’homme avec sa femme, mieux vaut ne pas se marier. »
11EN: Who said to them: All men take not this word, but they to whom it is given.
11FR: Mais il leur dit : « Tous ne comprennent pas cette parole, mais ceux à qui cela a été donné.
12EN: For there are eunuchs, who were born so from their mother's womb: and there are eunuchs, who were made so by men: and there are eunuchs, who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven. He that can take, let him take it.
12FR: Car il y a des eunuques qui sont venus tels du sein de leur mère ; il y a aussi des eunuques qui le sont devenus par le fait des hommes ; et il y a des eunuques qui se sont faits eunuques eux-mêmes à cause du royaume des cieux. Que celui qui peut comprendre, comprenne ! »
13EN: Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them.
13FR: Alors on lui amena de petits enfants pour qu’il leur imposât les mains et priât (pour eux). Or les disciples les gourmandèrent.
14EN: But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such.
14FR: Mais Jésus leur dit : « Laissez les petits enfants, et ne les empêchez pas de venir à moi, car le royaume des cieux est à ceux qui leur ressemblent. »
15EN: And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from thence.
15FR: Et, leur ayant imposé les mains, il partit de là.
16EN: And behold one came and said to him: Good master, what good shall I do that I may have life everlasting?
16FR: Et voici que quelqu’un, l’abordant, dit : « Maître, que dois-je faire de bon pour avoir la vie éternelle ? »
17EN: Who said to him: Why asketh thou me concerning good? One is good, God. But if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
17FR: Il lui dit : « Pourquoi m’interroges-tu sur (ce qui est) bon ? Un seul est le bon. Que si tu veux entrer dans la vie, observe les commandements. »
18EN: He said to him: Which? And Jesus said: Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness.
18FR: Il lui dit : « Lesquels ? » Jésus dit : « C’est : Tu ne tueras point ; tu ne commettras point l’adultère ; tu ne déroberas point ; tu ne porteras point de faux témoignage ;
19EN: Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
19FR: honore ton père et ta mère, et : tu aimeras ton proche comme toi-même. »
20EN: The young man saith to him: All these I have kept from my youth, what is yet wanting to me?
20FR: Le jeune homme : « J’ai observé tous ces (commandements) ; que me manque-t-il encore ? »
21EN: Jesus saith to him: If thou wilt be perfect, go sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come follow me.
21FR: Jésus lui dit : « Si tu veux être parfait, va, vends ce que tu possèdes, donne-le aux pauvres, et tu auras un trésor dans les cieux ; puis, viens et suis-moi. »
22EN: And when the young man had heard this word, he went away sad: for he had great possessions.
22FR: Lorsqu’il eut entendu cette parole, le jeune homme s’en alla attristé, car il avait de grands biens.
23EN: Then Jesus said to his disciples: Amen, I say to you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
23FR: Et Jésus dit à ses disciples : « Je vous le dis en vérité, difficilement un riche entrera dans le royaume des cieux.
24EN: And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.
24FR: Je vous le dis, il est plus aisé pour un chameau d’entrer par le trou d’une aiguille, que pour un riche d’entrer dans le royaume de Dieu. »
25EN: And when they had heard this, the disciples wondered very much, saying: Who then can be saved?
25FR: En entendant (ces paroles), les disciples étaient fort étonnés, et ils dirent : « Qui peut donc être sauvé ? »
26EN: And Jesus beholding, said to them: With men this is impossible: but with God all things are possible.
26FR: Et Jésus, les yeux fixés (sur eux), leur dit : « Cela est impossible aux hommes, mais tout est possible à Dieu. »
27EN: Then Peter answering, said to him: Behold we have left all things, and have followed thee: what therefore shall we have?
27FR: Alors Pierre, prenant la parole, lui dit : « Voici que nous avons tout quitté pour vous suivre ; qu’en sera-t-il donc pour nous ? »
28EN: And Jesus said to them: Amen, I say to you, that you, who have followed me, in the regeneration, when the Son of man shall sit on the seat of his majesty, you also shall sit on twelve seats judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
28FR: Jésus leur dit : « Je vous le dis en vérité, lorsque, au renouvellement, le Fils de l’homme siégera sur son trône de gloire, vous qui m’avez suivi, vous siégerez vous aussi sur douze trônes, et vous jugerez les douze tribus d’Israël.
29EN: And every one that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall possess life everlasting.
29FR: Et quiconque aura quitté maisons, ou frères, ou sœurs, ou père, ou mère, ou enfants, ou champs, à cause de mon nom, il recevra le centuple et aura la vie éternelle en possession. »
30EN: And many that are first, shall be last: and the last shall be first.
30FR: « Et beaucoup de premiers seront derniers, et beaucoup de derniers premiers.
