1EN: AND he said to them: Amen I say to you, that there are some of them that stand here, who shall not taste death, till they see the kingdom of God coming in power.
1FR: Il leur dit : « Je vous le dis, en vérité, quelques-uns de ceux qui sont ici présents ne goûteront point la mort qu’ils n’aient vu le royaume de Dieu venu avec puissance. »
2EN: And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter and James and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves, and was transfigured before them.
2FR: Six jours après, Jésus prend avec lui Pierre, Jacques et Jean, et les emmène seuls à l’écart, sur une haute montagne. Et il se transfigura devant eux.
3EN: And his garments became shining and exceeding white as snow, so as no fuller upon earth can make white.
3FR: Ses vêtements devinrent étincelants, tout blancs, tels qu’aucun foulon sur la terre ne saurait blanchir ainsi.
4EN: And there appeared to them Elias with Moses; and they were talking with Jesus.
4FR: Et Elie leur apparut avec Moïse, conversant avec Jésus.
5EN: And Peter answering, said to Jesus: Rabbi, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5FR: Pierre, prenant la parole, dit à Jésus : « Rabbi, il nous est bon d’être ici ; faisons trois tentes, une pour vous, une pour Moïse, et une pour Elie. »
6EN: For he knew not what he said: for they were struck with fear.
6FR: Il ne savait en effet quoi dire, l’effroi les ayant saisis.
7EN: And there was a cloud overshadowing them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying: This is my most beloved son; hear ye him.
7FR: Et il se fit une nuée qui les couvrit de son ombre, et de la nuée se fit entendre une voix : « Celui-ci est mon Fils bien-aimé : écoutez-le. »
8EN: And immediately looking about, they saw no man any more, but Jesus only with them.
8FR: Aussitôt, regardant tout autour, ils ne virent plus personne que Jésus, seul avec eux.
9EN: And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them not to tell any man what things they had seen, till the Son of man shall be risen again from the dead.
9FR: Comme ils descendaient de la montagne, il leur fit commandement de ne raconter à personne ce qu’ils avaient vu, sinon quand le Fils de l’homme serait ressuscité des morts.
10EN: And they kept the word to themselves; questioning together what that should mean, when he shall be risen from the dead.
10FR: Et ils gardèrent pour eux la chose, tout en se demandant entre eux ce que signifiait « ressusciter des morts ».
11EN: And they asked him, saying: Why then do the Pharisees and scribes say that Elias must come first?
11FR: Ils l’interrogeaient, disant : « Pourquoi les scribes disent-ils qu’il faut qu’Elie vienne d’abord ? »
12EN: Who answering, said to them: Elias, when he shall come first, shall restore all things; and as it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things and be despised.
12FR: Il leur dit : « Elie doit venir d’abord et restaurer toutes choses. Et comment est-il écrit du Fils de l’homme qu’il doit souffrir beaucoup et être méprisé ?
13EN: But I say to you, that Elias also is come, (and they have done to him whatsoever they would,) as it is written of him.
13FR: Mais je vous dis qu’Elie est venu, et ils l’ont traité comme ils ont voulu, selon qu’il est écrit de lui. »
14EN: And coming to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes disputing with them.
14FR: Etant venus vers les disciples, ils virent une foule nombreuse autour d’eux, et des scribes qui discutaient avec eux.
15EN: And presently all the people seeing Jesus, were astonished and struck with fear; and running to him, they saluted him.
15FR: Et aussitôt qu’elle l’eut vu, toute la foule fut stupéfaite, et elle accourut pour le saluer.
16EN: And he asked them: What do you question about among you?
16FR: Il leur demanda : « Que discutez-vous avec eux ? »
17EN: And one of the multitude, answering, said: Master, I have brought my son to thee, having a dumb spirit.
17FR: Un de la foule lui répondit : « Maître, je vous ai amené mon fils, qui a un esprit muet.
18EN: Who, wheresoever he taketh him, dasheth him, and he foameth, and gnasheth with the teeth, and pineth away; and I spoke to thy disciples to cast him out, and they could not.
18FR: Partout où il s’empare de lui, il le jette contre terre, et il écume, grince des dents et se raidit. Et j’ai dit à vos disciples de le chasser, et ils ne l’ont pu. »
19EN: Who answering them, said: O incredulous generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.
19FR: Il leur répondit : « O génération incrédule, jusques à quand serai-je près de vous ? Jusques à quand vous supporterai-je ? Amenez-le-moi. »
20EN: And they brought him. And when he had seen him, immediately the spirit troubled him; and being thrown down upon the ground, he rolled about foaming.
20FR: Et ils le lui amenèrent. A sa vue, l’esprit le jeta aussitôt à terre, et tombé sur le sol, il se roulait en écumant.
21EN: And he asked his father: How long time is it since this hath happened unto him? But he said: From his infancy:
21FR: Et il demanda au père : « Combien y a-t-il de temps que cela lui arrive ? — Depuis l’enfance, dit-il.
22EN: And oftentimes hath he cast him into the fire and into waters to destroy him. But if thou canst do any thing, help us, having compassion on us.
22FR: Et souvent il l’a jeté dans le feu et dans l’eau pour le faire périr. Mais, si vous pouvez quelque chose, venez à notre aide par pitié pour nous. »
23EN: And Jesus saith to him: If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
23FR: Jésus lui dit : « Si vous pouvez ! Tout est possible à celui qui croit. »
24EN: And immediately the father of the boy crying out, with tears said: I do believe, Lord: help my unbelief.
24FR: Aussitôt le père de l’enfant s’écria : « Je crois ! Venez au secours de mon manque de foi ! »
25EN: And when Jesus saw the multitude running together, he threatened the unclean spirit, saying to him: Deaf and dumb spirit, I command thee, go out of him; and enter not any more into him.
25FR: Jésus, voyant accourir une foule, commanda avec force à l’esprit impur, lui disant : « Esprit muet et sourd, je te le commande, sors de lui et ne rentre plus en lui. »
26EN: And crying out, and greatly tearing him, he went out of him, and he became as dead, so that many said: He is dead.
26FR: Et ayant poussé un grand cri et l’ayant jeté à terre avec violence, il sortit ; et il devint comme mort, si bien que beaucoup disaient : « Il est mort. »
27EN: But Jesus taking him by the hand, lifted him up; and he arose.
27FR: Mais Jésus, l’ayant pris par la main, le fit lever, et il se tint debout.
28EN: And when he was come into the house, his disciples secretly asked him: Why could not we cast him out?
28FR: Lorsqu’il fut entré dans la maison, ses disciples lui demandèrent en particulier : « Pourquoi n’avons-nous pu le chasser ? »
29EN: And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
29FR: Il leur dit : « Ce genre ne peut être chassé que par la prière [et le jeûne]. »
30EN: And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee, and he would not that any man should know it.
30FR: Etant partis de là, ils cheminèrent à travers la Galilée, et il ne voulait pas qu’on le sût,
31EN: And he taught his disciple, and said to them: The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise again the third day.
31FR: car il donnait cet enseignement à ses disciples : « Le fils de l’homme va être livré entre les mains des hommes, et ils le mettront à mort, et mis à mort, il ressuscitera après trois jours. »
32EN: But they understood not the word, and they were afraid to ask him.
32FR: Mais ils ne comprenaient point cette parole, et ils craignaient de l’interroger.
33EN: And they came to Capharnaum. And when they were in the house, he asked them: What did you treat of in the way?
33FR: Ils arrivèrent à Capharnaüm. Lors qu’il fut dans la maison, il leur demanda : « De quoi discutiez-vous en chemin ? »
34EN: But they held their peace, for in the way they had disputed among themselves, which of them should be the greatest.
34FR: Mais ils gardèrent le silence, car en chemin ils avaient discuté entre eux qui était le plus grand.
35EN: And sitting down, he called the twelve, and saith to them: If any man desire to be first, he shall be the last of all, and the minister of all.
35FR: Alors ils s’assit, appela les Douze et leur dit : « Si quelqu’un veut être le premier, il sera le dernier de tous, et le serviteur de tous. »
36EN: And taking a child, he set him in the midst of them. Whom when he had embraced, he saith to them:
36FR: Puis, prenant un enfant, il le plaça au milieu d’eux ; et après l’avoir embrassé, il leur dit :
37EN: Whosoever shall receive one such child as this in my name, receiveth me. And whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.
37FR: « Celui qui reçoit en mon nom un de ces enfants me reçoit ; et celui qui me reçoit, ce n’est pas moi qu’il reçoit, mais celui qui m’a envoyé. »
38EN: John answered him, saying: Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, who followeth not us, and we forbade him.
38FR: Jean lui dit : « Maître, nous avons vu quelqu’un qui ne nous suit pas, qui chassait les démons en votre nom, et nous voulions l’en empêcher, parce qu’il ne nous suit pas. »
39EN: But Jesus said: Do not forbid him. For there is no man that doth a miracle in my name, and can soon speak ill of me.
39FR: Mais Jésus dit : « Ne l’en empêchez pas, car il n’est personne qui fasse miracle en mon nom, qui puisse bientôt après parler mal de moi.
40EN: For he that is not against you, is for you.
40FR: Qui n’est pas contre nous est pour nous.
41EN: For whosoever shall give you to drink a cup of water in my name, because you belong to Christ: amen I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
41FR: Celui en effet qui vous donnera à boire un verre d’eau en mon nom, parce que vous êtes au Christ, je vous le dis, en vérité, il ne perdra pas sa récompense.
42EN: And whosoever shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me; it were better for him that a millstone were hanged around his neck, and he were cast into the sea.
42FR: Et celui qui scandalisera un de ces petits qui croient (en moi), il serait mieux pour lui qu’on lui attache autour du cou une meule à âne et qu’on le jette dans la mer.
43EN: And if thy hand scandalize thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life, maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into unquenchable fire:
43FR: Si ta main est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-la : mieux vaut pour toi entrer manchot dans la vie, que de t’en aller, ayant deux mains, dans la géhenne, dans le feu inextinguible. [44]
44EN: Where there worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.
44FR: Et si ton pied est pour toi une occasion de chute, coupe-le : mieux vaut pour toi entrer boiteux dans la vie, que d’être jeté, ayant deux pieds, dans la géhenne. [46]
45EN: And if thy foot scandalize thee, cut it off. It is better for thee to enter lame into life everlasting, than having two feet, to be cast into the hell of unquenchable fire:
45FR: Et si ton œil est pour toi une occasion de chute, arrache-le : mieux vaut pour toi entrer borgne dans le royaume de Dieu, que d’être jeté, ayant deux yeux, dans la géhenne,
46EN: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.
46FR: là où leur ver ne meurt point, et où le feu ne s’éteint point.
47EN: And if thy eye scandalize thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee with one eye to enter into the kingdom of God, than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire:
47FR: Car chacun doit être salé par le feu.
48EN: Where the worm dieth not, and the fire is not extinguished.
48FR: Le sel est bon ; mais si le sel devient dessalé, avec quoi l’assaisonnerez-vous ? Ayez du sel en vous-mêmes, et soyez en paix entre vous. »
49EN: For every one shall be salted with fire: and every victim shall be salted with salt.
49FR:
50EN: Salt is good. But if the salt became unsavory; wherewith will you season it? Have salt in you, and have peace among you.
