1EN: THE beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
1FR: Commencement de l’évangile de Jésus-Christ, Fils de Dieu :
2EN: As it is written in Isaias the prophet: Behold I send my angel before thy face, who shall prepare the way before thee.
2FR: — selon ce qui est écrit dans le prophète Isaïe : Voici que j’envoie mon messager devant vous, pour vous frayer le chemin.
3EN: A voice of one crying in the desert: Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight his paths.
3FR: Voix de celui qui crie dans le désert : Préparez le chemin du Seigneur, aplanissez ses sentiers —
4EN: John was in the desert baptizing, and preaching the baptism of penance, unto remission of sins.
4FR: Jean le Baptiste parut dans le désert, prêchant un baptême de repentir pour la rémission des péchés.
5EN: And there went out to him all the country of Judea, and all they of Jerusalem, and were baptized by him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.
5FR: Tout le pays de Judée et tous les habitants de Jérusalem s’en venaient vers lui et, confessant leurs péchés, ils se faisaient baptiser par lui dans le fleuve du Jourdain.
6EN: And John was clothed with camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and he ate locusts and wild honey.
6FR: Et Jean avait un vêtement de poils de chameau et, autour de ses reins, une ceinture de cuir ; et il mangeait des sauterelles et du miel sauvage. Et il prêchait ainsi :
7EN: And he preached, saying: There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and loose.
7FR: « Il vient après moi, celui qui est plus puissant que moi, dont je ne suis pas digne de délier, en me baissant, la courroie de ses sandales.
8EN: I have baptized you with water; but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
8FR: Moi, je vous ai baptisés avec l’eau, mais lui vous baptisera avec l’Esprit-Saint. »
9EN: And it came to pass, in those days, Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
9FR: Or, il arriva en ces jours-là que Jésus vint de Nazareth de Galilée et se fit baptiser par Jean dans le Jourdain.
10EN: And forthwith coming up out of he water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit as a dove descending, and remaining on him.
10FR: Et, comme il remontait de l’eau, il vit les cieux entr’ouverts et l’Esprit qui descendait sur lui, comme une colombe.
11EN: And there came a voice from heaven: Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
11FR: Et il y eut une voix des cieux : « Tu es mon Fils bien-aimé, en toi j’ai mis mes complaisances. »
12EN: And immediately the Spirit drove him out into the desert.
12FR: Et aussitôt l’Esprit le poussa au désert.
13EN: And he was in the desert forty days and forty nights, and was tempted by Satan; and he was with beasts, and the angels ministered to him.
13FR: Et il demeura dans le désert quarante jours, tenté par Satan ; il était parmi les bêtes sauvages, et les anges le servaient.
14EN: And after that John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,
14FR: Après que Jean eut été livré, Jésus vint en Galilée, prêchant l’évangile de Dieu et disant :
15EN: And saying: The time is accomplished, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel.
15FR: « Le temps est accompli, et le royaume de Dieu est proche ; repentez-vous et croyez à l’évangile. »
16EN: And passing by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting nets into the sea (for they were fishermen).
16FR: Comme il passait le long de la mer de Galilée, il vit Simon et André, frère de Simon, qui jetaient le filet dans la mer, car ils étaient pêcheurs.
17EN: And Jesus said to them: Come after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men.
17FR: Et Jésus leur dit : « Venez à ma suite, et je vous ferai devenir pêcheurs d’hommes. »
18EN: And immediately leaving their nets, they followed him.
18FR: Aussitôt, laissant les filets, ils le suivirent.
19EN: And going on from thence a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were mending their nets in the ship:
19FR: Et ayant un peu avancé, il vit Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean son frère, eux aussi dans une barque, en train d’arranger les filets.
20EN: And forthwith he called them. And leaving their father Zebedee in the ship with his hired men, they followed him.
20FR: Il les appela aussitôt ; et, laissant leur père Zébédée dans la barque avec les journaliers, ils partirent à sa suite.
21EN: And they entered into Capharnaum, and forthwith upon the sabbath days going into the synagogue, he taught them.
21FR: Ils se rendirent à Capharnaüm, et dès que, le jour du sabbat, il fut entré dans la synagogue, il se mit à enseigner.
22EN: And they were astonished at his doctrine. For he was teaching them as one having power, and not as the scribes.
22FR: Et ils étaient stupéfaits de son enseignement, car il les enseignait comme ayant autorité, et non comme les scribes.
23EN: And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,
23FR: Or il y avait justement dans leur synagogue un homme (possédé) d’un esprit impur, qui s’écria :
24EN: Saying: What have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the Holy One of God.
24FR: « Ah ! Qu’avons-nous affaire ensemble, Jésus de Nazareth ? Vous êtes venu pour nous perdre ? Je sais qui vous êtes, le saint de Dieu. »
25EN: And Jesus threatened him, saying: Speak no more, and go out of the man.
25FR: Et Jésus lui commanda avec force : « Tais-toi et sors de lui ! »
26EN: And the unclean spirit tearing him, and crying out with a loud voice, went out of him.
26FR: Et l’esprit impur l’abattit, poussa un grand cri et sortit de lui.
27EN: And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying: What thing is this? what is this new doctrine? for with power he commandeth even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.
27FR: Et tous furent saisis de stupeur à ce point qu’ils se demandaient entre eux : « Qu’est ceci ? Un enseignement nouveau avec autorité ! Et il commande aux esprits impurs, et ils lui obéissent ! »
28EN: And the fame of him was spread forthwith into all the country of Galilee.
28FR: Et sa renommée se répandit aussitôt dans toute la région de la Galilée.
29EN: And immediately going out of the synagogue they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
29FR: En sortant de la synagogue, il vint aussitôt dans la maison de Simon et d’André, avec Jacques et Jean.
30EN: And Simon's wife's mother lay in a fit of a fever: and forthwith they tell him of her.
30FR: Or la belle-mère de Simon était au lit, ayant la fièvre ; aussitôt ils lui parlèrent d’elle.
31EN: And coming to her, he lifted her up, taking her by the hand; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
31FR: Il s’approcha et la fit lever, en lui prenant la main ; et la fièvre la quitta, et elle se mit à les servir.
32EN: And when it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all that were ill and that were possessed with devils.
32FR: Le soir venu, après le coucher du soleil, on lui amenait tous les malades et les démoniaques ;
33EN: And all the city was gathered together at the door.
33FR: et toute la ville était rassemblée devant la porte.
34EN: And he healed many that were troubled with divers diseases; and he cast out many devils, and he suffered them not to speak, because they knew him.
34FR: Et il guérit beaucoup de malades affligés de diverses infirmités, et il chassa beaucoup de démons ; mais il ne laissait pas les démons parler, parce qu’ils le connaissaient.
35EN: And rising very early, going out, he went into a desert place: and there he prayed.
35FR: Le matin, s’étant levé longtemps avant le jour, il sortit, s’en alla dans un lieu désert, et là il priait.
36EN: And Simon, and they that were with him, followed after him.
36FR: Simon et ceux qui étaient avec lui se mirent à sa recherche ;
37EN: And when they had found him, they said to him: All seek for thee.
37FR: et l’ayant trouvé, ils lui dirent : « Tout le monde vous cherche. »
38EN: And he saith to them: Let us go into the neighbouring towns and cities, that I may preach there also; for to this purpose am I come.
38FR: Il leur dit : « Allons ailleurs dans les bourgs voisins, afin que j’y prêche aussi ; car c’est pour cela que je suis sorti. »
39EN: And he was preaching in their synagogues, and in all Galilee, and casting out devils.
39FR: Et il alla, prêchant dans leurs synagogues, par la Galilée entière, et chassant les démons.
40EN: And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down said to him: If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
40FR: Un lépreux vient à lui, le supplie, fléchit le genou et lui dit : « Si vous voulez, vous pouvez me guérir. »
41EN: And Jesus having compassion on him, stretched forth his hand; and touching him, saith to him: I will. Be thou made clean.
41FR: Emu de compassion, il étendit la main, le toucha et lui dit : « Je le veux, sois guéri. »
42EN: And when he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was made clean.
42FR: Et aussitôt la lèpre le quitta, et il fut guéri.
43EN: And he strictly charged him, and forthwith sent him away.
43FR: Et lui parlant sévèrement, il le fit partir aussitôt,
44EN: And he saith to him: See thou tell no one; but go, shew thyself to the high priest, and offer for thy cleansing the things that Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.
44FR: lui disant : « Garde-toi d’en parler à personne ; mais va te montrer au prêtre, et offre pour ta guérison ce que Moïse a prescrit, en attestation pour eux. »
45EN: But he being gone out, began to publish and to blaze abroad the word: so that he could not openly go into the city, but was without in desert places: and they flocked to him from all sides.
45FR: Mais lui, étant parti, se mit à faire force discours et à divulguer la chose : de sorte que (Jésus) ne pouvait plus entrer ostensiblement dans une ville, mais se tenait dehors, dans des lieux déserts, et l’on venait à lui de toutes parts.
