1EN: AND on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared.
1FR: Mais le premier jour de la semaine, de grand matin, elles allèrent au sépulcre, portant les aromates qu’elles avaient préparés.
2EN: And they found the stone rolled back from the sepulchre.
2FR: Or elles trouvèrent la pierre roulée de devant le sépulcre ;
3EN: And going in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
3FR: et, étant entrées, elles ne trouvèrent pas le corps du Seigneur Jésus.
4EN: And it came to pass, as they were astonished in their mind at this, behold, two men stood by them, in shining apparel.
4FR: Tandis qu’elles étaient perplexes à ce sujet, voici que deux hommes, en vêtement éblouissant, se présentèrent à elles.
5EN: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their countenance towards the ground, they said unto them: Why seek you the living with the dead?
5FR: Comme elles étaient prises de peur et inclinaient le visage vers la terre, ils leur dirent : « Pourquoi cherchez-vous parmi les morts celui qui est vivant ?
6EN: He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spoke unto you, when he was in Galilee,
6FR: Il n’est point ici, mais il est ressuscité. Souvenez-vous de ce qu’il vous a dit, lorsqu’il était encore en Galilée,
7EN: Saying: The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
7FR: disant que le Fils de l’homme devait être livré aux mains d’hommes pécheurs, être crucifié et ressusciter le troisième jour. »
8EN: And they remembered his words.
8FR: Et elles se ressouvinrent de ses paroles et,
9EN: And going back from the sepulchre, they told all these things to the eleven, and to all the rest.
9FR: à leur retour du sépulcre, elles annoncèrent toutes ces choses aux Onze et à tous les autres.
10EN: And it was Mary Magdalen, and Joanna, and Mary of James, and the other women that were with them, who told these things to the apostles.
10FR: Or c’étaient la Magdaléenne Marie, Jeanne et Marie (mère) de Jacques ; et les autres, leurs compagnes, en disaient autant aux apôtres.
11EN: And these words seemed to them as idle tales; and they did not believe them.
11FR: Et ces paroles leur parurent du radotage et ils ne les crurent point.
12EN: But Peter rising up, ran to the sepulchre, and stooping down, he saw the linen cloths laid by themselves; and went away wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.
12FR: Pierre partit et courut au sépulcre ; et, se penchant, il vit les bandelettes seules ; et il s’en retourna chez lui, s’étonnant de ce qui s’était passé.
13EN: And behold, two of them went, the same day, to a town which was sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, named Emmaus.
13FR: Or, ce même jour, deux d’entre eux se rendaient à un bourg, nommé Emmaüs, distant de Jérusalem de soixante stades,
14EN: And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
14FR: et ils causaient entre eux de tous ces événements.
15EN: And it came to pass, that while they talked and reasoned with themselves, Jesus himself also drawing near, went with them.
15FR: Tandis qu’ils causaient et discutaient, Jésus lui-même, s’étant approché, se mit à faire route avec eux ;
16EN: But their eyes were held, that they should not know him.
16FR: mais leurs yeux étaient empêchés de le reconnaître.
17EN: And he said to them: What are these discourses that you hold one with another as you walk, and are sad?
17FR: Il leur dit : « De quoi vous entretenez-vous ainsi en marchant ? » Et ils s’arrêtèrent tout tristes.
18EN: And the one of them, whose name was Cleophas, answering, said to him: Art thou only a stranger to Jerusalem, and hast not known the things that have been done there in these days?
18FR: L’un d’eux, nommé Cléophas, lui dit : « Tu es bien le seul qui, de passage à Jérusalem, ne sache pas ce qui s’y est passé ces jours-ci ! »
19EN: To whom he said: What things? And they said: Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet, mighty in work and word before God and all the people;
19FR: Il leur dit : « Quoi ? » Ils lui dirent : « Ce qui concerne Jésus de Nazareth, qui fut un prophète puissant en œuvres et en parole devant Dieu et tout le peuple ;
20EN: And how our chief priests and princes delivered him to be condemned to death, and crucified him.
20FR: et comment nos grands prêtres et nos chefs l’ont livré pour être condamné à mort et l’ont crucifié.
21EN: But we hoped, that it was he that should have redeemed Israel: and now besides all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
21FR: Quant à nous, nous espérions que ce serait lui qui délivrerait Israël ; mais, en plus de tout cela, on est au troisième jour depuis que cela s’est passé.
22EN: Yea and certain women also of our company affrighted us, who before it was light, were at the sepulchre,
22FR: Aussi bien, quelques femmes, des nôtres, nous ont jetés dans la stupeur : étant allées de grand matin au sépulcre,
23EN: And not finding his body, came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who say that he is alive.
23FR: et n’ayant pas trouvé son corps, elles sont venues dire même qu’elles avaient vu une apparition d’anges qui disaient qu’il est vivant.
24EN: And some of our people went to the sepulchre, and found it so as the women had said, but him they found not.
24FR: Quelques-uns de nos compagnons s’en sont allés au sépulcre et ont bien trouvé (toutes choses) comme les femmes avaient dit : mais lui, ils ne l’ont point vu. »
25EN: Then he said to them: O foolish, and slow of heart to believe in all things which the prophets have spoken.
25FR: Et lui leur dit : « O (hommes) sans intelligence et lents de cœur pour croire à tout ce qu’ont dit les prophètes !
26EN: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and so to enter into his glory?
26FR: Ne fallait-il pas que le Christ souffrit cela pour entrer dans sa gloire ? »
27EN: And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures, the things that were concerning him.
27FR: Et commençant par Moïse et (continuant) par tous les prophètes, il leur expliqua, dans toutes les Ecritures, ce qui le concernait.
28EN: And they drew night to the town, whither they were going: and he made as though he would go farther.
28FR: Ils approchèrent du bourg où ils se rendaient, et lui feignit de se rendre plus loin.
29EN: But they constrained him; saying: Stay with us, because it is towards evening, and the day is now far spent. And he went in with them.
29FR: Mais ils le contraignirent, disant : « Reste avec nous, car on est au soir et déjà le jour est sur son déclin. » Et il entra pour rester avec eux.
30EN: And it came to pass, whilst he was at table with them, he took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to them.
30FR: Or, quand il se fut mis à table avec eux, il prit le pain, dit la bénédiction, puis le rompit et le leur donna.
31EN: And their eyes were opened, and they knew him: and he vanished out of their sight.
31FR: Alors leurs yeux s’ouvrirent, et ils le reconnurent ; et il disparut de leur vue.
32EN: And they said one to the other: Was not our heart burning within us, whilst he spoke in this way, and opened to us the scriptures?
32FR: Et ils se dirent l’un à l’autre : « Est-ce que notre cœur n’était pas brûlant en nous, lorsqu’il nous parlait sur le chemin, tandis qu’il nous dévoilait les Ecritures ? »
33EN: And rising up, the same hour, they went back to Jerusalem: and they found the eleven gathered together, and those that were staying with them,
33FR: Sur l’heure même, ils partirent et retournèrent à Jérusalem ; et ils trouvèrent réunis les Onze et leurs compagnons,
34EN: Saying: The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
34FR: qui disaient : « Réellement le Seigneur est ressuscité, et il est apparu à Simon. »
35EN: And they told what things were done in the way; and how they knew him in the breaking of the bread.
35FR: Et eux de raconter ce qui (s’était passé) sur le chemin, et comment il avait été reconnu par eux à la fraction du pain.
36EN: Now whilst they were speaking these things, Jesus stood in the midst of them, and saith to them: Peace be to you; it is I, fear not.
36FR: Comme ils discouraient ainsi, lui se trouva au milieu d’eux et leur dit : « Paix à vous ! »
37EN: But they being troubled and frightened, supposed that they saw a spirit.
37FR: Saisis de stupeur et d’effroi, ils croyaient voir un esprit.
38EN: And he said to them: Why are you troubled, and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
38FR: Et il leur dit : « Pourquoi êtes-vous troublés, et pourquoi des pensées s’élèvent-elles dans vos cœurs ?
39EN: See my hands and feet, that it is I myself; handle, and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me to have.
39FR: Voyez mes mains et mes pieds ; c’est bien moi. Touchez-moi et constatez, car un esprit n’a ni chair ni os, comme vous voyez que j’en ai. »
40EN: And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and feet.
40FR: Et ce disant, il leur montra ses mains et ses pieds.
41EN: But while they yet believed not, and wondered for joy, he said: Have you any thing to eat?
41FR: Comme ils ne croyaient pas encore à cause de leur joie et qu’ils étaient dans l’étonnement, il leur dit : « Avez-vous ici quelque chose à manger ? »
42EN: And they offered him a piece of a broiled fish, and a honeycomb.
42FR: Ils lui donnèrent un morceau de poisson grillé.
43EN: And when he had eaten before them, taking the remains, he gave to them.
43FR: Il le prit et en mangea devant eux.
44EN: And he said to them: These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
44FR: Il leur dit : « C’est bien là ce que je vous ai dit quand j’étais encore avec vous : qu’il fallait que tout ce qui est écrit de moi dans la loi de Moïse, les Prophètes et les Psaumes s’accomplît. »
45EN: Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.
45FR: Alors il leur ouvrit l’intelligence pour comprendre des Ecritures ;
46EN: And he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise again from the dead, the third day:
46FR: et il leur dit : « Ainsi il est écrit que le Christ devait souffrir et ressusciter des morts le troisième jour,
47EN: And that penance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
47FR: et que le repentir pour la rémission des péchés doit être prêché en son nom à toutes les nations, à commencer par Jérusalem.
48EN: And you are witnesses of these things.
48FR: Vous êtes témoins de ces choses.
49EN: And I send the promise of my Father upon you: but stay you in the city till you be endued with power from on high.
49FR: Et voici que je vais envoyer sur vous ce qui a été promis par mon Père. Quant à vous, demeurez dans la ville jusqu’à ce que vous soyez d’en haut revêtus de force. »
50EN: And he led them out as far as Bethania: and lifting up his hands, he blessed them.
50FR: Et il les emmena jusque vers Béthanie, et, levant les mains, il les bénit.
51EN: And it came to pass, whilst he blessed them, he departed from them, and was carried up to heaven.
51FR: Et tandis qu’il les bénissait, il s’éloigna d’eux, et il était enlevé vers le ciel.
52EN: And they adoring went back into Jerusalem with great joy.
52FR: Et eux, après l’avoir adoré, retournèrent à Jérusalem avec grande joie.
53EN: And they were always in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
53FR: Et ils étaient continuellement dans le temple, louant et bénissant Dieu.
