1EN: Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl in your miseries, which shall come upon you.
1FR: A vous maintenant, riches ! Pleurez, éclatez en sanglots à la vue des misères qui vont fondre sur vous.
2EN: Your riches are corrupted: and your garments are motheaten.
2FR: Vos richesses sont pourries, et vos vêtements sont mangés des vers.
3EN: Your gold and silver is cankered: and the rust of them shall be for a testimony against you, and shall eat your flesh like fire. You have stored up to yourselves wrath against the last days.
3FR: Votre or et votre argent ce sont rouillés, et leur rouille rendra témoignage contre vous, et comme un feu dévorera vos chairs. Vous avez thésaurisé dans les derniers jours !
4EN: Behold the hire of the labourers, who have reaped down your fields, which by fraud has been kept back by you, crieth: and the cry of them hath entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
4FR: Voici qu’il crie contre vous, le salaire dont vous avez frustré les ouvriers qui ont fauché vos champs, et les cris des moissonneurs sont parvenus aux oreilles du Seigneur Sabaoth.
5EN: You have feasted upon earth: and in riotousness you have nourished your hearts, in the day of slaughter.
5FR: Vous avez vécu sur la terre dans les délices et les festins ; vous avez été comme la victime qui se repaît le jour où on doit l’égorger.
6EN: You have condemned and put to death the Just One, and he resisted you not.
6FR: Vous avez condamné, vous avez tué le juste il ne vous résiste point.
7EN: Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth: patiently bearing till he receive the early and latter rain.
7FR: Prenez donc patience, mes frères, jusqu’à l’avènement du Seigneur. Voyez le laboureur, dans l’espérance du précieux fruit de la terre, attend patiemment jusqu’à ce qu’il reçoive la pluie de l’automne et celle du printemps.
8EN: Be you therefore also patient, and strengthen your hearts: for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
8FR: Vous aussi, soyez patients, et affermissez vos cœurs, car l’avènement du Seigneur est proche.
9EN: Grudge not, brethren, one against another, that you may not be judged. Behold the judge standeth before the door.
9FR: Frères, ne vous répandez point en plaintes les uns contre les autres, de peur que vous ne soyez jugés : voici que le juge est à la porte.
10EN: Take, my brethren, for an example of suffering evil, of labour and patience, the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord.
10FR: Comme modèle de générosité dans l’épreuve et de patience, prenez, frères, les prophètes qui ont parlé au nom du Seigneur.
11EN: Behold, we account them blessed who have endured. You have heard of the patience of Job, and you have seen the end of the Lord, that the Lord is merciful and compassionate.
11FR: Voyez, nous proclamons bienheureux ceux qui ont souffert. Vous avez entendu parler de la patience de Job, et vous avez vu quelle fin le Seigneur lui a ménagée ; car le Seigneur est plein de compassion et de miséricorde.
12EN: But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath. But let your speech be, yea, yea: no, no: that you fall not under judgment.
12FR: Surtout, mes frères, ne jurez ni par le ciel, ni par la terre, ni par quelque autre serment ; mais que votre oui soit oui, et que votre non soit non, afin que vous ne tombiez pas sous le coup du jugement.
13EN: Is any of you sad? Let him pray. Is he cheerful in mind? Let him sing.
13FR: Quelqu’un pareil vous est-il dans l’affliction ? qu’il prie. Est-il dans la joie ? qu’il chante des cantiques.
14EN: Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
14FR: Quelqu’un parmi vous est-il malade ? qu’il appelle les prêtres de l’Église et que ceux-ci prient sur lui, en l’oignant d’huile au nom du Seigneur.
15EN: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man: and the Lord shall raise him up: and if he be in sins, they shall be forgiven him.
15FR: Et la prière de la foi sauvera le malade, et le Seigneur le rétablira, et s’il a commis des péchés, ils lui seront pardonnés.
16EN: Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much.
16FR: Confessez donc vos fautes l’un à l’autre, et priez les uns pour les autres, afin que vous soyez guéris ; car la prière fervente du juste a beaucoup de puissance.
17EN: Elias was a man passible like unto us: and with prayer he prayed that it might not rain upon the earth, and it rained not for three years and six months.
17FR: Elie était un homme soumis aux mêmes misères que nous : Il pria instamment qu’il ne tombât point de pluie, et la pluie ne tomba pas sur la terre pendant trois ans et six mois ;
18EN: And he prayed again: and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.
18FR: il pria de nouveau, et le ciel donna la pluie, et la terre produisit ses fruits.
19EN: My brethren, if any of you err from the truth, and one convert him:
19FR: Mes frères, se quelqu’un d’entre vous s’est laissé entraîner loin de la vérité, et qu’un autre l’y ramène,
20EN: He must know that he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.
20FR: sachez que celui qui ramène un pécheur de la voie où il s’égare, sauvera une âme de la mort et couvrira une multitude de péchés.
