1EN: Let the charity of the brotherhood abide in you.
1FR: Persévérez dans l’amour fraternel.
2EN: And hospitality do not forget; for by this some, being not aware of it, have entertained angels.
2FR: N’oubliez pas l’hospitalité ; quelques-uns en la pratiquant ont, à leur insu, logé des anges.
3EN: Remember them that are in bands, as if you were bound with them; and them that labour, as being yourselves also in the body.
3FR: Souvenez-vous des prisonniers, comme si vous étiez aussi prisonniers ; et de ceux qui sont maltraités, comme étant vous aussi dans un corps.
4EN: Marriage honourable in all, and the bed undefiled. For fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
4FR: Que le mariage soit honoré de tous, et le lit conjugal exempt de souillure, car Dieu condamnera les impudiques et les adultères.
5EN: Let your manners be without covetousness, contented with such things as you have; for he hath said: I will not leave thee, neither will I forsake thee.
5FR: Que votre conduite soit exempte d’avarice, vous contentant de ce que vous avez ; car Dieu lui-même a dit : " Je ne le délaisserai point et ne t’abandonnerai point " ; de sorte que nous pouvons dire en toute assurance :
6EN: So that we may confidently say: The Lord is my helper: I will not fear what man shall do to me.
6FR: " Le Seigneur est mon secours, je ne craindrai rien ; que pourraient me faire les hommes ? "
7EN: Remember your prelates who have spoken the word of God to you; whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation,
7FR: Souvenez-vous de ceux qui vous conduisent, qui vous ont annoncé la parole de Dieu ; et considérant quelle a été l’issue de leur vie, imitez, leur foi.
8EN: Jesus Christ, yesterday, and to day; and the same for ever.
8FR: Jésus-Christ est le même hier et aujourd’hui ; il le sera éternellement.
9EN: Be not led away with various and strange doctrines. For it is best that the heart be established with grace, not with meats; which have not profited those that walk in them.
9FR: Ne vous laissez pas entraîner par des doctrines diverses et étrangères, car il vaut mieux affermir son cœur par la grâce, que par des aliments, qui n’ont servi de rien à ceux qui s’y attachent.
10EN: We have an altar, whereof they have no power to eat who serve the tabernacle.
10FR: Nous avons un autel dont ceux-là n’ont pas le droit de manger qui restent au service du tabernacle.
11EN: For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the holies by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
11FR: Car pour les animaux dont le sang, expiation du péché, est porté dans le sanctuaire par le grand prêtre, leurs corps sont brûlés hors du camp.
12EN: Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people by his own blood, suffered without the gate.
12FR: C’est pour cela que Jésus aussi, devant sanctifier le peuple par son sang, a souffert hors de la porte.
13EN: Let us go forth therefore to him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
13FR: Donc, pour aller à lui, sortons hors du camp, en portant son opprobre.
14EN: For we have not here a lasting city, but we seek one that is to come.
14FR: Car nous n’avons pas ici-bas de cité permanente, mais nous cherchons celle qui est à venir.
15EN: By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise always to God, that is to say, the fruit of lips confessing to his name.
15FR: Que ce soit donc par lui que nous offrions sans cesse à Dieu " un sacrifice de louange ", c’est-à-dire " le fruit de lèvres " qui célèbrent son nom.
16EN: And do not forget to do good, and to impart; for by such sacrifices God's favour is obtained.
16FR: Et n’oubliez pas la bienfaisance et la libéralité ; car Dieu se plaît à de tels sacrifices.
17EN: Obey your prelates, and be subject to them. For they watch as being to render an account of your souls; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief. For this is not expedient for you.
17FR: Obéissez à ceux qui vous conduisent, et ayez pour eux de la déférence, car ils veillent sur vos âmes comme devant en rendre compte, - afin qu’ils le fassent avec joie, et non en gémissant ; ce qui ne vous serait pas avantageux.
18EN: Pray for us. For we trust we have a good conscience, being willing to behave ourselves well in all things.
18FR: Priez pour nous ; car nous sommes assurés d’avoir une bonne conscience, voulant en toutes choses nous bien conduire.
19EN: And I beseech you the more to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.
19FR: C’est avec instance que je vous conjure de le faire, afin que je vous sois plus tôt rendu.
20EN: And may the God of peace, who brought again from the dead the great pastor of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ, in the blood of the everlasting testament,
20FR: Que le Dieu de la paix, - qui a ramené d’entre les morts celui qui, par le sang d’une alliance éternelle, est devenu le grand Pasteur des brebis, notre Seigneur Jésus, -
21EN: Fit you in all goodness, that you may do his will; doing in you that which is well pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom is glory for ever and ever. Amen.
21FR: vous rende capables de toute bonne œuvre pour l’accomplissement de sa volonté, en opérant en vous ce qui est agréable à ses yeux, par Jésus-Christ, auquel soit la gloire dans les siècles des siècles ! Amen !
22EN: And I beseech you, brethren, that you suffer this word of consolation. For I have written to you in a few words.
22FR: Je vous prie, frères, d’agréer cette parole d’exhortation, car je vous ai écrit brièvement.
23EN: Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty: with whom (if he come shortly) I will see you.
23FR: Apprenez que notre frère Timothée est relâché ; s’il vient assez tôt, j’irai vous voir avec lui.
24EN: Salute all your prelates, and all the saints. The brethren from Italy salute you.
24FR: Saluez tous ceux qui vous conduisent et tous les saints. Les frères d’Italie vous saluent. Que la grâce soit avec vous tous ! Amen !
