1EN: AND Saul, as yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,
1FR: Cependant Saul, respirant encore la menace et le meurtre contre les disciples du Seigneur, alla trouver le grand prêtre
2EN: And asked of him letters to Damascus, to the synagogues: that if he found any men and wemen of this way, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
2FR: et lui demanda des lettres pour Damas, à l’adresse des synagogues, afin que s’il trouvait des gens de la secte, hommes et femmes, il les amenât enchaînés à Jérusalem.
3EN: And as he went on his journey, it came to pass that he drew nigh to Damascus; and suddenly a light from heaven shined round about him.
3FR: Or, comme il était en chemin, alors qu’il approchait de Damas, tout à coup une lumière (venant) du ciel resplendit autour de lui.
4EN: And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?
4FR: Il tomba à terre et entendit une voix qui lui disait : « Saul, Saul, pourquoi me persécutes-tu ? »
5EN: Who said: Who art thou, Lord? And he: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the goad.
5FR: Il dit : « Qui êtes-vous, Seigneur ? » Et lui : « Je suis Jésus que tu persécutes.
6EN: And he trembling and astonished, said: Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?
6FR: Mais lève-toi et entre dans la ville, et on te dira ce que tu dois faire. »
7EN: And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the city, and there it shall be told thee what thou must do. Now the men who went in company with him, stood amazed, hearing indeed a voice, but seeing no man.
7FR: Or les hommes qui faisaient route avec lui étaient demeurés saisis de stupeur, entendant bien la voix, mais ne voyant personne.
8EN: And Saul arose from the ground; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. But they leading him by the hands, brought him to Damascus.
8FR: Saul se releva de terre et, bien que ses yeux fussent ouverts, il ne voyait rien. En le conduisant par la main, on le fit entrer à Damas.
9EN: And he was there three days, without sight, and he did neither eat nor drink.
9FR: Et il fut trois jours sans voir et sans prendre ni nourriture ni boisson.
10EN: Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision: Ananias. And he said: Behold I am here, Lord.
10FR: Or il y avait à Damas un disciple nommé Ananie, et le Seigneur lui dit dans une vision : « Ananie ! » Il dit : « Me voici, Seigneur. »
11EN: And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the street that is called Stait, and seek in the house of Judas, one named Saul of Tarsus. For behold he prayeth.
11FR: Et le Seigneur lui (dit) : « Lève-toi, va dans la rue qu’on appelle la Droite, et cherche dans la maison de Judas un nommé Saul de Tarse. Car le voilà qui prie,
12EN: (And he saw a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hands upon him, that he might receive his sight.)
12FR: et il a vu dans une vision un homme nommé Ananie, qui entrait et lui imposait les mains afin qu’il recouvrât la vue. »
13EN: But Ananias answered: Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints in Jerusalem.
13FR: Ananie répondit : « Seigneur, j’ai appris de plusieurs sur cet homme combien de mal il a fait à vos saints dans Jérusalem.
14EN: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name.
14FR: Et il a ici, de la part des grands prêtres, plein pouvoir pour enchaîner tous ceux qui invoquent votre nom. »
15EN: And the Lord said to him: Go thy way; for this man is to me a vessel of election, to carry my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.
15FR: Mais le Seigneur lui dit : « Va, car cet homme est un instrument que j’ai choisi pour porter mon nom devant les nations, les rois et les enfants d’Israël ;
16EN: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
16FR: je lui montrerai en effet tout ce qu’il doit souffrir pour mon nom. »
17EN: And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house. And laying his hands upon him, he said: Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus hath sent me, he that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest; that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.
17FR: Ananie s’en alla, entra dans la maison, lui imposa les mains et dit : « Saul, mon frère, le Seigneur Jésus qui t’est apparu sur le chemin par lequel tu venais, m’a envoyé pour que tu recouvres la vue et que tu sois rempli de l’Esprit-Saint. »
18EN: And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and rising up, he was baptized.
18FR: Et aussitôt il lui tomba des yeux comme des écailles, et il recouvra la vue. Il se leva et fut baptisé ;
19EN: And when he had taken meat, he was strengthened. And he was with the disciples that were at Damascus, for some days.
19FR: et après qu’il eut pris de la nourriture, il reprit force. Il passa quelques jours avec les disciples qui étaient à Damas ;
20EN: And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
20FR: et aussitôt il prêchait dans les synagogues que Jésus est le Fils de Dieu.
21EN: And all that heard him, were astonished, and said: Is not this he who persecuted in Jerusalem those that called upon this name: and came hither for that intent, that he might carry them bound to the chief priests?
21FR: Tous ceux qui (l’)entendaient étaient stupéfaits et disaient : « N’est-ce pas lui qui pourchassait à Jérusalem ceux qui invoquent ce nom, et n’est-il pas venu ici pour les conduire enchaînés aux grands prêtres ? »
22EN: But Saul increased much more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, affirming that this is the Christ.
22FR: Cependant Saul se fortifiait de plus en plus (dans la foi) et il confondait les Juifs qui habitaient à Damas, (leur) démontrant que (Jésus) était le Christ.
23EN: And when many days were passed, the Jews consulted together to kill him.
23FR: Après un temps assez considérable, les Juifs se concertèrent pour le tuer,
24EN: But their laying in wait was made known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night, that they might kill him.
24FR: mais leur complot parvint à la connaissance de Saul. Ils gardaient aussi les portes jour et nuit, afin de la tuer.
25EN: But the disciples taking him in the night, conveyed him away by the wall, letting him down in a basket.
25FR: Mais ses disciples le prirent de nuit et le firent descendre par la muraille dans une corbeille.
26EN: And when he was come into Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples; and they all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple.
26FR: Or, arrivé à Jérusalem, il cherchait à se joindre aux disciples, et tous le redoutaient, ne croyant pas qu’il fût un disciple.
27EN: But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and told them how he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken to him; and how in Damascus he had dealt confidently in the name of Jesus.
27FR: Mais Barnabé, l’ayant pris, le mena aux apôtres et leur raconta comment sur le chemin (Saul) avait vu le Seigneur et qu’il lui avait parlé, et comment, à Damas, il avait parlé avec assurance au nom de Jésus.
28EN: And he was with them coming in and going out in Jerusalem, and dealing confidently in the name of the Lord.
28FR: Et (Saul) était avec eux, allant et venant dans Jérusalem, et il parlait avec assurance au nom du Seigneur.
29EN: He spoke also to the Gentiles, and disputed with the Greeks; but they sought to kill him.
29FR: Il s’adressait aussi aux Hellénistes, disputant avec (eux) ; mais ceux-ci cherchaient à le mettre à mort.
30EN: Which when the brethren had known, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him away to Tarsus.
30FR: Les frères, l’ayant appris, l’emmenèrent à Césarée et le firent partir pour Tarse.
31EN: Now the church had peace throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria; and was edified, walking in the fear of the Lord, and was filled with the consolation of the Holy Ghost.
31FR: L’Église était en paix par toute la Judée, la Galilée et la Samarie, s’édifiant et marchant dans la crainte du Seigneur, et elle croissait par l’assistance du Saint-Esprit.
32EN: And it came to pass that Peter, as he passed through, visiting all, came to the saints who dwelt at Lydda.
32FR: Or il arriva que Pierre, passant chez tous les saints, descendit aussi vers ceux qui habitaient Lydda.
33EN: And he found there a certain man named Eneas, who had kept his bed for eight years, who was ill of the palsy.
33FR: Il y trouva un homme nommé Enée, couché sur un grabat depuis huit ans, qui était paralytique.
34EN: And Peter said to him: Eneas, the Lord Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And immediately he arose.
34FR: Pierre lui dit : « Enée, Jésus-Christ te guérit ; lève-toi, et arrange pour toi (ton lit). » Et aussitôt il se leva.
35EN: And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron, saw him: who were converted to the Lord.
35FR: Tous les habitants de Lydda et du Saron le virent, et ils se convertirent au Seigneur.
36EN: And in Joppe there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
36FR: Il y avait à Joppé, une croyante nommée Tabitha, ce qui, traduit, se dit Dorcas ; elle était riche en bonnes œuvres et faisait beaucoup d’aumônes.
37EN: And it came to pass in those days that she was sick, and died. Whom when they had washed, they laid her in an upper chamber.
37FR: Or il advint en ces jours-là qu’elle tomba malade et mourut. Après l’avoir lavée, on la déposa dans une chambre haute.
38EN: And forasmuch as Lydda was nigh to Joppe, the disciples hearing that Peter was there, sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not be slack to come unto them.
38FR: Comme Lydda est près de Joppé, les disciples, ayant appris que Pierre y était, envoyèrent deux hommes vers lui pour lui faire cette prière : « Ne tarde pas à venir jusqu’à nous. »
39EN: And Peter rising up, went with them. And when he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber. And all the widows stood about him weeping, and shewing him the coats and garments which Dorcas made them.
39FR: Pierre se leva et partit avec eux. Quand il fut arrivé, on le fit monter dans la chambre haute, et toutes les veuves se présentèrent à lui, pleurant et lui montrant des tuniques et des vêtements que faisait Dorcas lorsqu’elle était avec elles.
40EN: And they all being put forth, Peter kneeling down prayed, and turning to the body, he said: Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes; and seeing Peter, she sat up.
40FR: Pierre fit sortir tout le monde, se mit à genoux et pria ; puis, se tournant vers le corps, il dit : « Tabitha, lève-toi ! » elle ouvrit les yeux et, voyant Pierre, elle se mit sur son séant.
41EN: And giving her his hand, he lifted her up. And when he had called the saints and the widows, he presented her alive.
41FR: Il lui donna la main et la fit mettre debout. Et ayant appelé les saints et les veuves, il la leur présenta vivante.
42EN: And it was made known throughout all Joppe; and many believed in the Lord.
42FR: Ce qui fut connu par tout Joppé, et beaucoup crurent au Seigneur.
43EN: And it came to pass, that he abode many days in Joppe, with one Simon a tanner.
43FR: Et il arriva que (Pierre) resta assez longtemps à Joppé chez un certain Simon, corroyeur.
